Hardly any other town in Bavaria has such a closed, unchanged medieval townscape as the 1100-year-old Berching. 13 towers, four city gates and the fortified wall from the 15th century determine the image of the city, and puts its visitors in a "medieval mood".
Berching, which has been awarded the status of a monument, is a prime example of an urbanistic synthesis of the arts. In order to provide you with all the information you need about this gem of the Middle Ages, guided tours of the town during the day or with torches at night are available on request.
You can get more information about numerous sights of the town and the region on the homepage of the town at www.berching.de as well as at the tourist office of the town of Berching.
Berching also has a lot to offer for your leisure activities. You can visit various towers or take a walk around the Berching town wall, or go on a cycling or hiking tour along the idyllic Rhein-Main-Donau canal - on which you can, of course, take a boat trip. To stay with the "water", you (and your children) can look forward to the adventure pool "Berle", which will surprise you with various pools, outdoor pool, whirlpool, a slide and much more.
Around Berching it will of course not be boring. From the Donau Breakthrough to the Liberation Hall or the Nuremberg Christmas Market - Berching is an ingenious location for all your destinations.
Festivals and markets, light art and literature - Berching has a lot going on all year round.
Every year at the beginning of February, more than 100 horses and carriages are driven into Berching and put on display - at the largest winter folk festival in the Upper Palatinate.
